About Me

Joanna Cooper, MA, R-SLP, CCC-SLP

Joanna has been a practicing Speech and Language Pathologist for 17 years.  With a Masters Degree in Communication Disorders from California State University, Los Angeles, Joanna has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings.  Joanna is currently an Active member in good standing with ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) and ACSLPA (Alberta College for Speech Language Pathology & Audiology)

In her early career she worked for several school divisions in Southern California, and spent holidays and spare time maintaining her skills in the medical side of the field working in rehabilitation facilities and skilled nursing facilities.

Upon returning to Canada, Joanna worked within a multi-disciplinary private practice focused on providing supports to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  It was here that Joanna developed an interest and love for supporting children with social communication delays, and augmenting language for children with significant expressive language delays.

Joanna returned to the Edmonton area to begin working within the Public School system. She has continued to build on her love and passion of supporting children with social communication delays, and complex communication and learning needs.

In her spare time, Joanna enjoys living a life of fitness through weight training, and running with her daughter.  They enjoy walks with the dog, and curling up to read a good book!  Joanna also coaches Sprints & Hurdles for the St Albert Mustangs Track & Field Club!
